Sometimes, (Ok, oftentimes) the decision to kick-start a training program might be tied to a specific occasion, like a vacation or race. While there's nothing wrong with that - it got you started. after all - looking at the bigger picture can help you stick with a training routine long after the occasion has ended.
Research shows that setting small, short-term goals can help you stick with a fitness routine. So instead of looking at the upcoming trip to a sunny destination, for example, as your final goal, view it as a smaller goal within your lifelong journey toward a healthier, happier, fitter you.
